As a part of its ongoing commitment with innovation Vista Silicon participates in a number of R&D programmes both national and international. Vista Silicon is currently part of:
COBRA Project: Computing Fabric for High performance Applications (label Catrene CA104), funded by Ministerio de Industria, Turismo y Comercio. Subprogram: Avanza Competitividad I+D+I.
LIMVA Project: Lectura Industrial Móvil por Visión Artificial, funded by Ministerio de Ciencia en Innovación. Subprogram: Impacto.
Vista Silicon has participated in other research projects already finished: SVDAT, SIVSIAT, SCALOPES and SOFTSOC. Vista Silicon benefits from the INNCORPORA INC-FPGS-2010-0916 e INC-TU-2011-1804 program, co-funded by the European Social Fund. Vista Silicon dedicates a great amount of resources to the R&D activity aiming to develop more efficient and reliable products that will seamlessly integrate in current and future solutions.
The key activities of research focus on video processing (video codecs, video content analysis), SoC design methodology (architecture study, algorithm efficiency) and communications.
Some of the currently available technology from the research activities includes:
Video codec: H.264, JPEG -- (FPGA hardware IP/ systems)
Video analytics: face recognition, LPR, OCR - SW
Embedded OS (Linux, uCLinux)
RTOS (uCOS)
Evaluation platforms (Altera FPGA, Freescale I.MX27)
Communication interfaces (UART, SPI, Ethernet, etc)
Multimedia formats (.mov, .avi, .ts)
TCP/IP protocols (RTP, RTSP, TCP, UDP, MPEGTS)
